Podcast SummaryThe latest sounds from one of Pacha's producer/ djs. Epic Balearic mixes spanning deep house, progressive, tech, minimal, electro, breaks, tribal & trance. About James VeversIf talk of flares, turtles, swallow dives & headspins strikes a distant chord, then maybe like James Vevers, your gateway to the scene came breakdancing your way through the Hip Hop culture back in the early 80's. This proved a great antidote to school work and set up his first dj gig at the school disco, when he programmed a set onto alternating cassettes and then played them back on the tape to tape machine. Whilst the beatmatching wasnt exactly on it, tune selection more than made up with classics including Herbie Hancock - Rock It, Kraftwerk - Tour De France, Run DMC - Sucker M.C.'s & Chaka Khan - I Feel For You. The next landmark came in 1989 when James accidentally tuned into his local pirate radio station. They say timing is everything, and on this occassion it was, as A Guy Called Gerald - Vodoo Ray was airing, followed by Unique 3 - The Theme. This was a double blow in the best possible sense and it was then decided that Technics 1210's were next on the shopping list. Only having £45 to his name, a cunning plan was hatched. A casino roulette system was dreamt up which would win enough money to buy the decks and a cheap but adequate Made To Fade Mixer. Unbelievably it actually worked and the next day purchases were made and mix practise began. At the same time inspiration was being gleaned from Paul Taylor's night at Angels (Burnley), Orbit @ After Dark (Morley) (where Moby's - Next Is The E was first heard), Hacienda (Manchester) & Life@Bowlers (Manchester). From there it was a natural progression from clubber to dj, with residencies across the northwest presenting themselves at Monroes (Blackburn), Code (Manchester), Bar Zero, 3rst & Garlands (Liverpool) to name but a few. As well as touring, one off parties were also organised and co-promoted in the craziest places with one particular "boat party" springing to mind. Forget the barge parties, for this soiree a battleship complete with submarine was acquisitioned. Fast forward to 2006 and production aspirations finally surfaced. After three years of self tuition 2009 proved to be the breakthrough year, with debut release "Anomaly" securing an exclusive signing to Pacha Recordings. This set in motion a Triple Five Deal (of which fifteen artists from around the world are currently on) and helped put the wind in the sails of a career in music production. Follow up tracks Metatron & Psychopomp helped cement this position and paved the way for remix work. As well as all hitting the Pacha Beatport Top 10 these tracks have also featured on various compilations (see below) with three tracks appearing on Caged Baby's selection. Currently working on his own material and a batch of remixes for Pacha and other labels, 2010 is shaping up to be another exciting year. Followers
